Throuoghout the 1990’s whenever hot rods gathered in Southern California, you were likely to see a heard of Prowlers.  Here you can see 20 of the Prowlers in one of our annual group photos.  They are:  (back row left to right)

Fred Castro, Swede Sommer, Hank Williams, Bob Wolin, Paul Olsen, Mike Gooch, John Noble, Roger Frafke, Marty Simonides, Dick FitzeK, Pete Morrow,

At least once a year the Prowlers were invited to the Cajon Speedway to show off the not rods during a break between Stock Car races at the speedway.  The crowd always gave us a nice hand.  We kind got a kick out of doing it too.

Many times during the 1990’s the Prowlers would come out in force at the North Island Speedweek in Coronado each September.  Here you see Les Hilger’s very cool old school 1932 roadster.  Next to it is Larry Duda’s hot orange 1933 Ford Vicky.

Other Prowlers in attendance were Bob Wollin, ken Polesky and Hank Williams.  Yes red was still a popular hot rod color.

 And lets not forget a few more Prowlers at the event:  Pete Morrow, Fred Castro and Bob Blanton with the coolest 1940 Ford Coup you ever saw.

Hot rods as art?  Sure as shown here Chris Callahan had a professional photo shoot for a major magazine.  We never saw it published, but my what a beutiful photograph … right !!!

Another car show in 1997 shows a couple’a shots of Ace Carnahan’s beautiful 1933 Ford Roadster.  What a great hot rod.

This smooth ’39 Ford standard belonged to Roger Prafke member #143.  After Roger sold the ’39 he built another nice ’27 “T” roadster. 

This is Roger Prafke’s ’27 “T” roadster that we were talking about above.  A home built rod only like Roger can build.  Note the red “T” track style roadster behind Roger.  It has quite a history.  It belongs to Artist, Cartoonist, Car Builder,  Race Car Driver and former Prowler Bob McCoy. The car ran at the Lakes and Bonneville as a modified roadster.  The license plate says it all “217 MPH”!!

Here is Hank Williams’ cool looking 1937 Ford coupe, done in the old school style.  Han has owned many other street rods and has always done them in top quality.

Heres another one of Hanks rides.  This is a shot of the first of 2 roadsters that Hank has owned. This was his ’32 Ford hi-boy.

Here is one of the Prowler’s annual picnic flyers.  It was the 48th picnic and the two cars shown were also featured on the special t-shirts we alwsys have printed.  The cars are Bob Blanton’s 1940 Ford and Bob Smith’s 1927 T roadster.

Bob Smith #102 with his LOW ’27 Ford Roadster.  He still owns this ride today.  Bob’s made a few changes to this rod also. Go the members listing and you can see what she looks like today.

Pete Morrow #52 before he flamed his ’27 Ford Roadster.  This shot was taken at the rear of the S.D. Auto Museum early ’90’s. Pete still owns this ride today and is go’n strong.

Lee Bright had many fine hot rods.  This white “Tub” is shown at one of our brunches at Humphrey’s restaurant on Shelter Island in the mid 1990’s.

Lt. to Rt.,  Andy Bekech’s Vicky and Dick Fitzek 3 window.  This picture was taken in the early ’90’s at the S.D. Auto Museum. The vicky was one of two of Andy’s rides then,  the other ia beautiful ’40 Ford Convertiable.  Andy being a retired Fireman can you guess what color the ’40 is?  Yep you got it “RED” !

For the Prowlers 50th Anniversary the club commissioned a ’32 Ford Model made by Ertl. Only 500 were produced. Quite a collectors item.

Here is another shot of Freddy Castros ’23 T at the Outriders picnic at Newport Dunes. This photo was literally stumbled across by fellow club member Andy Bekech at a swap meet – what a lucky find!
